Hard lessons in planning - Delhi Commonwealth Games

This does not seem like an envious situation. A nation gets the spotlight of hosting a multi-national event, but turns soar after stories of inadequate facilities. Now, a small bridge collapses, yet with giant waves. It is not the intention to critique efforts or point fingers. But, to draw lessons in the extra care in planning and enforcement of standards when planning major events.

The Delhi Commonwealth Games have been plunged into crisis 12 days from the start after the athletes' village was described as "uninhabitable" and a footbridge collapsed at the main stadium.
